Joe was a hands-on president who worked countless hours at the Community Hall and grounds. He spent his summers mowing grass around the hall and walking tract. He helped put a new roof on the Rucker house as well as organizing the successful “Raise the Roof” campaign to put a new roof on the Community Hall. For years he ran the BHAM charity bingo games at the Hall to help generate income to sustain the facility. He purchased and donated many items that are on display in the museum. Joe was skilled at finding innovative ways to solve the many problems and issues affecting BHAM with the most efficient use of the limited funds available to the board.
In summary few people have had as much influence on documenting and preserving Bauxite history as Joe DuVall.
