Bryant Public Schools announced Friday that Dexter Barksdale has been named the new Assistant Principal for Bryant High School.
He is a Bryant graduate and came back to teach biology and chemistry at the high school in 2017. In 2018, he transitioned into the engineering department. Last year he served as an associate grant writer for a $40,000 grant which funded the Unmanned Aerial courses offered at BHS.
Growing in his leadership capacity, Mr. Barksdale assisted in the development of the academy model at the high school under the capacity of STEM House Leader.
According to the announcement, Barksdale believes in the OneTeam mentality of the Bryant Schools, and has thoroughly enjoyed beginning each morning as a bus driver with the Transportation Department while ensuring that students safely arrive at school. It also says he aims to continue his impact at BHS through the lens of an administrator while bringing his knowledge and expertise of the STEM and CTE departments to the table.
