Barbara Womack Webb of Benton filed her paperwork at the State Capitol in Little Rock on Friday to run for Arkansas Supreme Court, Position 4.
Webb, a licensed attorney since 1982, is the former Circuit Judge for the 22nd Judicial Circuit and was the first woman to serve as circuit judge in Saline County. Prior to that, voters elected her to serve multiple terms as Prosecuting Attorney for the 7th and 22nd Judicial Districts, which included Saline, Hot Spring, and Grant Counties. She currently serves as the Chief Law Judge at the Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission.
“I am excited to file my candidacy for the Arkansas Supreme Court. My nearly four decades of experience in Arkansas law—from private practice, to prosecuting attorney, to judge—coupled with my judicial temperament, have more than prepared me for this opportunity. I will be a fair and independent voice that all Arkansans can trust.”
Barbara Womack Webb is the Chief Law Judge at the Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission and previously served for 12 years as a law judge, in both Democrat and Republican administrations. She recently served as Circuit Judge for the 22nd Judicial Circuit and formerly served as the elected Prosecuting Attorney for Saline, Hot Spring, and Grant Counties. Webb has also served as a special associate justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court.
Webb has also served with the Arkansas Ethics Commission, Arkansas State Crime Lab Board, Arkansas Coalition for Juvenile Justice, and the U.S. Department of Justice Anti-Terrorism Task Force.
She is a graduate of the University of Arkansas School of Law in Little Rock and has been a licensed attorney since 1982.
The non-partisan filing period begins at 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 4th, 2019 and ends at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2019. The election for non-partisan candidates shares a date with the Preferential Primary and Annual School Election – Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Early voting for the Preferential Primary begins Monday, February 17, 2020.
