A Saline County man stopped his vehicle in the middle of the road to gather a very important lost item that other cars were driving right over.
Axel Horn saw a folded United States flag that lay in an area off Springhill Road on Wednesday morning. He posted a picture (above) to his social media, hoping to find the owner.
“I found this flag off Springhill Rd. between the side entrance of Hurricane Lake Estates and Hilltop, stated Horn. “I picked it up because it was laying on the road being ran over.”
While he waited for the community to hopefully help in his quest, he drove back by the area and found the clear plastic case that was on the flag.
“Update people! Went back and found the bag,” he wrote as he edited his post. “This is someone’s personal flag. It’s for those who served. I called the funeral home you see displayed, however they have no records of any veterans been buried.”
Axel told MySaline in a phone call that the flag is in good shape and folded well, so it may have fallen off a truck while moving recently. He is determined to get the mystery solved.
“Again, this belongs to family,” he wrote. “Let’s try to get this back to their home.”
