MySaline will be updating regularly on the weather as changes roll into Arkansas this week.
Showers and thunderstorms are predicted across the state over the next several days, according to the National Weather Service in Little Rock. Some severe weather is possible on Wednesday as well as from Friday evening through Saturday.
Much colder air is expected to move into the state from Saturday into Sunday with very cold wind chill values possible across northern Arkansas Sunday morning.
DETAILS:
A few rounds of thunderstorms will be possible across the state in the coming days with the main potential for severe weather occurring Wednesday as well as Friday night into Saturday.
With current temperatures well above average, combined with abundant moisture, this will help fuel thunderstorms as a cold front and upper level storm system approach the state.
Widespread heavy rain is not expected, but some locally heavy rain is possible. The front is expected to move across the state Saturday into Saturday night with significantly colder air moving into the state in its wake.
As the upper level storm system departs to the east there is some brief potential for snow across the state Sunday. If snow or wintry precip develops, no impacts are expected at this time.
