From Fri Dec 29th through Wed Jan 3rd, a prolonged period of sub-freezing temperatures is likely, nearly statewide, beginning Sunday. Dangerously cold weather is likely, with low temperatures in the single digits to teens through much
of the period. Much of the state won’t see temperatures above freezing for several days, especially northern Arkansas. Windchill values will range from the negative teens to single digits by Monday morning. There is also the possibility of wintry precipitation late Saturday into Sunday. Snow accumulation up to one inch in higher terrain and isolated ice accumulation are possible, although widespread impacts to travel or infrastructure are not anticipated at this time.
Very cold, below average temperatures will continue through at least the middle of next week.
