The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a Flash Flood Watch. It’s active until 9:00 a.m. Saturday, December 23rd. See the statement below.
…FLASH FLOOD THREAT INCREASES FRIDAY AND SATURDAY……FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT CST TONIGHT THROUGH
SATURDAY MORNING…
The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a * Flash Flood Watch for portions of CENTRAL ARKANSAS, EASTERN ARKANSAS, SOUTHEAST ARKANSAS, SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS, and WESTERN ARKANSAS, including the following areas, in CENTRAL ARKANSAS, Conway, Faulkner, Garland, Grant, Lonoke, Perry, Prairie, Pulaski, Saline, and White. In EASTERN ARKANSAS, Jackson, Monroe, and Woodruff. In SOUTHEAST ARKANSAS, Arkansas, Bradley, Cleveland, Desha, Drew, Jefferson, and Lincoln. In SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS, Calhoun, Clark, Dallas, Hot Spring, Ouachita, and Pike. In WESTERN ARKANSAS, Montgomery and Polk.
* From midnight CST tonight through Saturday morning * A prolonged period of rain, including embedded heavy downpours, will bring widespread rainfall amounts of 1 inch or greater to a large portion of the state. A corridor of rainfall accumulation between 3 to 5 inches is likely within the watch area, and some isolated amounts greater than 5 inches are possible. This will increase the flash flood threat, especially across areas already saturated from previous rain.
* Considering the increased travel during the holiday season, motorists are strongly encouraged to monitor the latest forecast from trusted sources. If you experience flash flooding while in your vehicle, remember: Turn Around, Don`t Drown! Avoid driving through high water and slow your driving speed to account for local weather conditions.
