Breezy conditions are expected Thursday in advance of an approaching storm system. Southerly winds of 10 – 20 mph are expected, with gusts as high as 25 mph for most of the area. Winds may gust as high as 30 mph across the higher terrain areas.
Isolated thunderstorms will be possible over western parts of Arkansas Friday night. Some of these storms could produce hail. Southerly winds will be strong Friday into Saturday. Gusts at times could exceed 30 mph.
Widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected to move across the state Saturday through Saturday evening. Some thunderstorms could become severe, mainly across southern and eastern parts of the state. The main threat would be damaging wind gusts.
More seasonal air will move in Saturday night. Residual moisture may produce a few flurries across the higher elevations of northern Arkansas as the system pulls out. No accumulation is expected.
