The National Weather Service in Little Rock issued the following Winter Weather Briefing:
Forecast confidence is increasing regarding the winter weather potential Sunday night through Monday night.
A strong storm system will approach Arkansas Sunday night through Monday, leading to an increased chance of precipitation through Monday evening.
While most precipitation is expected to fall as rain from Sunday night through Monday night, a change over to snow is expected across portions of the state.
The areas most likely to see snowfall are northwest Arkansas, although some very light snow/flurries may extend farther southeast towards central Arkansas. Snowfall accumulations around one to two inches are possible across parts of northwest Arkansas, with higher amounts possible in higher terrain.
Ground temperatures remain well above freezing, so minimal to no impacts are expected from the snowfall at this time.
We will provide additional briefings as the forecast changes. At this time, no winter weather watches, warnings, or advisories are anticipated for Monday.
