The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a Freeze
Warning, which is in effect from midnight Friday night to 9 AM
CST Saturday. The Freeze Watch is no longer in effect.
* EVENT…Below freezing temperatures are likely.
* AREAS AFFECTED…Much of Arkansas.
* TEMPERATURE…Temperatures are expected to drop into the 20s
to around 30 degrees. This will be the first hard freeze
experienced this fall in many areas.
* IMPACTS…Freezing temperatures could kill outdoor plants and
other sensitive vegetation.
Instructions: A Freeze Watch means sub-freezing temperatures are possible. Bring sensitive plants indoors, and wrap outdoor pipes to protect them from the cold. Don`t forget your pets. If left outdoors, make sure they have a warm and dry shelter. A Freeze Warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a Freeze Watch that is active until November 10th at 9:00 a.m.
A widespread freeze is expected Friday night. A storm system bringing rain on Thursday will begin exiting to the east Thursday night. Colder air will spread into Arkansas from the Plains behind the system. The brunt of the cold air will arrive with a large area of Canadian high pressure Friday night.
Temperatures are likely to drop into the 20s to around 30 degrees Fahrenheit for much of Arkansas. For many areas, this will be the first hard freeze this fall. These freezing temps could kill outdoor plants and other sensitive vegetation.
