The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a TORNADO WATCH in effect until midnight Friday night for these 29 counties:
Central Arkansas – Conway Faulkner Garland Grant Perry Pope Pulaski Saline Yell

Southwest Arkansas – Clark Dallas Hot Spring Ouachita Pike

This includes the cities of Arkadelphia, Benton, Booneville, Bryant, Bull Shoals, Calico Rock, Camden, Cherokee Village, Clarksville, Clinton, Conway, Danville, Dardanelle, Fairfield Bay, Flippin, Fordyce, Glenwood, Harrison, Heber Springs, Horseshoe Bend, Hot Springs, Jasper, Leslie, Little Rock, Malvern, Mammoth Spring, Marshall, Melbourne, Mena, Morrilton, Mount Ida, Mountain Home, Mountain View, Murfreesboro, Norman, North Little Rock, Ola, Oxford, Paris, Perryville, Russellville, Sheridan, Summit, Waldron, Western Grove, And Yellville.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to become widespread and advance from west to east across the state. This will be Friday evening and into early Saturday as a cold front moves through. Storms could become severe Friday night. Note that high school football teams are rescheduling for before or after the storm.
The primary concern will be strong, straight line winds in excess of 60 mph. A brief tornado can not be ruled out along the advancing cold front. The southwest and south central portions of the state will have the best chances of seeing strong to severe thunderstorms.
Locally heavy rainfall is also possible, especially across the western half of the state. In addition to the thunderstorms, strong gusty winds are expected across parts of central and eastern Arkansas Friday evening through early Saturday. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts of 35 to 40 mph, are expected.
A warm front will lift to the north late Sunday night and into Monday with a few thunderstorms possible. Hazardous weather is not expected through the period.
