Hurricane Francine was located across the western Gulf of Mexico, coming towards the Louisiana coast. It is expected to make landfall later Wednesday and track toward Arkansas as it weakens. The system is expected to strengthen as it lifts northeastward. The system is expected to make landfall along the north-central Gulf Coast on Wednesday. After landfall, the system should take a northward jog. Tropical storm force winds are not expected across the state at this time. Heavy rainfall and gusty winds are the primary concerns.
Updates to the precipitation forecast include an expected decrease in overall rainfall across most locations in the state. Forecast rainfall amounts will be highly dependent on the future track of Francine. Max wind gusts on Thursday will be the greatest across eastern Arkansas with gust up to 45 mph possible. Western and central Arkansas should expect gusts up to 30 mph.
Highs on Wednesday should range from the lower 80s over southern Arkansas to the upper 80s over northern Arkansas. Best rain chances on Wednesday and Wednesday evening will be over southern and eastern portions of Arkansas.
