Hot and humid conditions are expected again today…with highs in the upper 90s to over 100 over much of central to south Arkansas.
Heat index values will be peaking near or over 105 for most of the area. The southern half of the area may see heat index values over 110 this afternoon.
A few isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms may be seen over northern sections this morning, with a bit more activity possible late this afternoon and this evening over northern into central sections.
There will be another break late this evening, but additional thunderstorms are possible late tonight into early Sunday morning over north and northwest sections of the area.
A few thunderstorms may become strong, to briefly severe, with large hail and downburst winds as the primary threats with the strongest storms. Locally heavy rainfall could also be seen.
An active pattern will be seen for much of the upcoming week, with chances for showers and thunderstorms possible each day for at least some portion of the state. The threat for seeing organized strong to severe weather looks low at this time however.
