The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a Heat Advisory, in effect from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening. The heat index values will increase to around 105 degrees this afternoon.
The areas affected will be much of central, western and southern Arkansas, including the following counties: LINCOLN; PIKE; DREW; SALINE; MONROE; BRADLEY; DESHA; OUACHITA; HOT SPRING; PULASKI; GRANT; CALHOUN; WOODRUFF; PRAIRIE; CLEVELAND; DALLAS; LONOKE; JEFFERSON; CLARK; ARKANSAS
The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a situation where heat illnesses are possible.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
