While Saline County is not currently under a burn ban, fire danger will be ramping up on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Little Rock. A dry cold front brings breezy and dry conditions to a state that is running below average on rainfall lately.
A dry cold front will move across Arkansas from the Northwest Sunday afternoon and evening. Winds will turn to the West / Northwest at 15 to 25 mph across the northern half of the state.
Afternoon humidity is expected to drop into the 20th percentile (that’s the drier end) on Sunday afternoon and possibly into the teens across parts of the north and west. Conditions across the state remain dry with rainfall running significantly below average. As such, the finer surface fuels such as grasses and brush will effectively carry fire.
