A Saline County man faces several charges after an alleged crime spree and a foot chase through the woods. George Schoolcraft, age 29, of Alexander, was wanted for residential burglary and theft of property in Saline County.

On Thursday evening June 20, 2024, neighbors in the community on Vimy Ridge Road began reporting to MySaline that Saline County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) deputies were searching for someone in the area. According to Captain Joseph Shamlin, someone submitted a tip to SCSO that Schoolcraft was in the area near the North East Fire Department at Kling Road.
The police report states that a deputy approached the suspect but Schoolcraft fled into the wooded area. This is when it concerned more neighbors, since the chase path required officers to go through some secluded residential yards. After several hours of searching, Schoolcraft was located near Shannon Hills city limits. He was exiting the woodline on S. Alexander Road. That’s where he was taken into custody.
Schoolcraft is currently charged with Felony Residential Burglary, Theft of Property, Misdemeanor Fleeing on Foot, and Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance. We will update as any information becomes available.
