The Arkansas Lottery Commission waited nearly two weeks to find the winner after a Mega Millions® lottery ticket was sold in Bryant. It was worth $1 million and the individual purchased it on July 1, 2022 at the Shell Superstop located at 23190 Interstate 30.
On Tuesday, July 12th, a player finally claimed that prize. The winner apparently asked to be anonymous, since the Lottery Commission did not disclose their name.
The winning numbers were 1, 27, 29, 38 and 62. The player matched all these five white balls, but not the Megaball® number 12. If the player had purchased the $1 Megaplier®, which was 3 for that drawing, he would have tripled the prize to $3 million.
Eric Hagler, Executive Director for the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery, urged ticket buyers last week to check their tickets. “The winner has 180 days from July 1 to claim the prize.”
And someone did claim it, which should make the store is happy about, since retailers receive a 1% commission from the sales of winning lottery products. That means Shell Superstop will receive $10,000 commission for selling the winning Mega Millions tickets once the winner claims their prize.
This winner is the 86th person to win $1 million or more from the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery since it started in 2009. HOWEVER, one more ticket worth $1 million won on Friday, July 8th, raising the number to 87 people in the club of million-or-more winners. That winning ticket was sold at Super 1 Foods, 2800 Hazel in Pine Bluff.
