Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed an Executive Order on Wednesday, January 9, 2025. This order directs funds to help with “dangers, hardships, and suffering” due to effects of the winter storm that blanketed the state with several inches of snow and in some places, ice as well.

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS COME – GREETINGS:
EO 25-01: EXECUTIVE ORDER TO PROVIDE FUNDING, AS AUTHORIZED BY ARK. CODE ANN. § 12-75-114, AS AMENDED, FROM THE GOVERNOR’S DISASTER RESPONSE AND RECOVERY FUND
WHEREAS: On or about January 9, 2025, severe winter weather is expected to strike Arkansas and cause dangers, hardships, and suffering throughout the state, which in turn, warrants this executive action;
WHEREAS: Adverse circumstances may come to bear upon citizens and public properties within the State of Arkansas; and
WHEREAS: These political subdivisions may require supplemental assistance from the state to recover from these losses.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, acting under the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Arkansas, and pursuant to Ark. Code Ann. §§ 12-75-101, et seq., do hereby declare a state of emergency and direct the sum of $150,000.00 to be obligated from the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund, to be used at the discretion of the Director of the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management to defray both program and administrative costs.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Arkansas to be affixed this 9th day of January, in the year of our Lord 2025.
