There always a lot of info in these announcements from ARDOT, so here’s a breakdown by what, where, when, you get the idea. Read on for what’s happening with the roads:
what’s happening
Watch for ARDOT to close a ramp this week. According to Arkansas Department of Transportation, construction requires ramp closures for the I-30 eastbound exit to Highway 67.
where is this
Weather permitting, crews will close the I-30 eastbound exit ramp to Highway 67 (Exit 114) at Benton/Haskell, Arkansas.
READ MORE BELOW
when are they doing it
This will be during overnight hours, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night. on Monday, October 9 through Saturday, October 14.
why is this happening
This closure will allow crews to perform drainage work adjacent to the exit ramp. This is part of the project to widen Interstate 30 to six lanes.
what to do
If you’re going eastbound on Interstate 30 (toward Little Rock), don’t expect to take the exit at Exit 114/Highway 67. See detour map and instructions below. ??This is the fun part of the article, where everyone disagrees with ARDOT’s detour recommendations…
- East on I-30 to Exit 116 (Sevier and South streets)
- North on South Street Bridge
- West on I-30 to Exit 114 (Highway 67 South)
Take the survey below and we will show the Wrong & Right answers on Monday morning before the ramp closure starts!
Traffic will be controlled with message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and signage. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone and watch for slower traffic speeds. Areas adjacent to the Interstate may experience noise impacts during nighttime hours.
This project (Job CA0601) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 5.5 miles of Interstate 30 to three lanes in each direction, from the interchange with U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 111) to Sevier Street in Benton (Exit 116). The project also includes improvements at the Highway 67 interchange (Exit 114). More information on this $187.3 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
