UPDATE – MAY 19, 2021
Expect delays beginning Wednesday on Interstate 30 in west Benton as pothole repairs are made. Several residents complained of a large pothole on a temporary bridge that was constructed for traffic to use while workers create the permanent bridge.
The project in Saline County to widen I-30 requires asphalt repairs on the I-30 westbound temporary bridge at Highway 67/229 (Exit 114), according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
The Arkansas State Police will use slow rolls in the work area from Wednesday, May 19 through Friday, May 21, weather permitting. The repairs will be scheduled outside of rush hours and on an as-needed basis, taking 30 minutes or less.
The work will be limited to the following start times:
- 2AM, 6AM, 10AM
- 2PM, 6PM, 10PM
- Friday overnight hours may include longer repair times
The Arkansas State Police will use its discretion for whether traffic is directed to the Exit 114 off and on-ramps for a short period of time to avoid the work zone.
Additional repair work is expected to be scheduled within the following week. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone and watch for slower traffic speeds. Areas adjacent to the Interstate may experience noise impacts during nighttime hours.
The following is a map for the current traffic pattern, while the bridge detour is in effect.
PREVIOUSLY – MAY 18, 2021
Construction to widen Interstate 30 to six lanes in Saline County required asphalt repairs Tuesday morning to the I-30 westbound detour bridge at Highway 67/229 (Exit 114), according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
In order for construction crews to repair asphalt pavement at the bridge, Arkansas State Police used slow rolls and the ramps at Exit 114 to move traffic around the construction area. Additionally, planned pothole repairs will be made during overnight hours later this week, weather permitting.
The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone and watch for slower traffic speeds. Areas adjacent to the Interstate may experience noise impacts during nighttime hours.
This project (Job CA0601) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 5.5 miles of Interstate 30 to three lanes in each direction, from the interchange with U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 111) to Sevier Street in Benton (Exit 116). The project also includes improvements at the Highway 67 interchange (Exit 114). More information on this $187.3 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
