What did “Angry Patrick,” turn into? We knew him as the gravelly-voiced, crap-your-pants-funny comedian. We listened to him for 20 years on hard rock radio station The Edge 100.3 FM, and now he’s a… real estate agent? Ok yes, that’s true, but the Benton, Arkansas resident just made a big announcement, and it’s all making more sense.
Let’s start with some background. Patrick started as a call-in guest on The Corey & Jay Show, with a weekly rant asking the question that people ask every day when they look at the news, “ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?” A few years into it, co-host Jay Hamilton announced his retirement, and Patrick became co-host on the show, and is now nationally syndicated.
Patrick had already been a stand-up comedian for years, drawing crowds and making new fans. He also organized the annual comedy contest “Funniest Person in Arkansas.” In the third year, a lady named Laura Ratliff won the whole thing. It must have been love at first sight because she and Patrick have been married since then.
On the radio, this man was bringing in the listeners. He made people laugh in the morning, he brought the fun to remote events for the radio show, and he brought his now wife Laura Beam with him. She was a guest on the morning show occasionally and the audience loved her. Meanwhile in 2023, Corey Deitz decided it was his time to retire. Patrick had the option to stay with The Edge, an iHeartRadio station, but in the end, decided to do his own thing. He’s going to tell you all about it and I’m getting to that part now…
Patrick has been in real estate for a minute and… speaking as a friend of his, this is not the next step I thought he might take. But he’s doing great at it. He is comfortable enough that it doesn’t matter if his next endeavor becomes something huge or if it just stays something fun.
I talked to Patrick this morning and he is absolutely stoked about starting a NEW SHOW that is his own. He’ll have creative freedom in a way that corporate suits might have found dangerous. Mostly because you don’t know what’s going to happen. You don’t know if people will listen. You don’t know if advertisers will… advertise.
Like Patrick said in the video above, he’s going to let it all out of the bag in October when he starts the new show. I don’t even know the name of it yet. But I can guess it will be funny, interesting, and talked about by lots of people.
Here’s what I do know. The show will be on in the mornings. It will be on lots of popular streaming channels… but also in video. There will be different co-hosts all the time. He’ll have a centrally located studio in the Little Rock area and it’s being built right now. He already has sponsors, and he welcomes conversations if you are interested.
