The Alexander Planning Commission invites residents, property owners and businesses to give input concerning the future growth of the city. Come to this public meeting Saturday, March 11th at the Alexander Community Center #2 from Noon to 2:00 p.m. The Community Center is located at Highway 111, on the property of the former Alexander Human Development Center.
“The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and receive input from the public on the first draft of the city’s proposed Comprehensive Master Development Plan.” said Planning Commission Chairman Michael Huck. “Visitors will be able to participate in the meeting anytime between 12 Noon and 2:00 PM.”
Paper copies are available at the Alexander Municipal Complex, 15605 Alexander Road, Mon. – Fri. 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. A PDF version is available at www.cityofalexander.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/AlexanderCompPlan.pdf. A PDF version will be E-mailed to anyone by sending a request to [email protected].
Huck explained the public meeting is part of the process to writing a new Master Development Plan for the city. The plan will be used by current and future city leaders to act as a guide concerning residential and commercial growth in the City of Alexander. The current Master Development Plan was approved in 1982.
This is the second public meeting. The first was held in June, 2022 at the City Park. At that meeting the public provided input on various topics such as Vision, Transportation, Housing, Recreation, Employment, and Making it Happen. This first draft is based on those responses plus a public survey taken in 2021.
A proposed second version, based on comments from the March 11 meeting, will be presented at a future public hearing. Comments from the public hearing will be considered when writing the final version of the Master Development Plan. The plan will then go to the planning commission and then the city council for final approval.
