The police report states that the officers saw blood in the floor from the living area to the kitchen and to the back of the home. The victims advised that the suspect identified as Mr. Luis Galdamez-Arriaza, left the scene on foot. An officer searched the area for him but did not find him initially.
The female in the home stated to officers that the suspect was beating on the door earlier and the male in the home answered. There was an argument and the suspect left but returned, beating on the door again. She stated that this time when the male resident answered, the suspect forced his way into the home and began assaulting the victim with gardening shears, then a box cutter.
She stated that they she recently lived with the suspect. While officers were taking this statement from the female resident, the suspect was calling her. When a video call came in, Assistant Chief Burnett answered the call and advised Mr. Galdamez-Arriaza to come back and turn himself in. However the suspect immediately disconnected the call.
The female advised that the suspect told her in one of the calls that he was “on a mountain.” This led officers to the location of the female’s previous shared residence with the suspect, on the back side of the Emerald Mountain neighborhood. Officers searched that residence and area but still did not find the suspect.
Meanwhile, the male victim filed more information at the Alexander Police Department. Through his sister translating, the victim said the suspect attempted to stab him with the pruning shears, but the victim held the handles tight and pressed against the attacker so he couldn’t stab him.
Three days later, on Thursday, July 18, 2024, Saline County Dispatch advised Alexander PD that Mr. Galdamez-Arriaza was currently fleeing on foot after Arkansas State Police (ASP) used a TVI (Tactical Vehicle Intervention) maneuver on the vehicle at W. Azalea and Mathews Drive. Officer Hobby joined ASP and Bryant PD in searching for the suspect for hours and finally located him in a creek at the dead end portion of Woodsgate Cove. He was sent to Encore Heart Hospital for a health check and then to the Saline County Detention Center (SCDC).
While Asst. Chief Burnett and Officer Hobby were logging Mr. Galdamez-Arriaza’s property, they located what appeared to be dried blood on Mr. Galdamez-Arriaza’s shorts, tennis shoes, and wallet. The shorts were the same pink color as described by the victims on the day of the altercation. Officers found more evidence after confirming the suspect’s current residence.
