The City of Alexander Fire Department announced this week that their program was recently awarded a Class 2 ISO Rating due to their efforts. This means better fire protection – and most likely, a better home insurance rate, so read about that below.
WHAT IS ISO
An ISO rating comes from the Insurance Services Office. After assessing several factors, they measure the protection level that a fire department is able to provide to the community. The scale is 1 to 10, with 1 as the very best possible, and 10 is the worst. The factors include water supply, alarms, engines and more.
HOW TO SAVE ON INSURANCE
Because ISO ratings reflect an area’s preparedness to prevent and extinguish fires, a strong score from the ISO suggests a low likelihood of your home being destroyed by a fire, according to Bankrate. This can result in lower home insurance premiums. Your insurance provider won’t always know of a change, so if you live in the city limits of Alexander, Arkansas – or anywhere – contact them to ask about a possible premium change.
“The fire department and its members have worked extremely hard over the last year to ensure we have accomplished the requirements to achieve this rating,” stated Fire Chief Ryan McCormick. “We are extremely proud of this rating and will continue to strive to keep moving forward to ensure the best service and results for homeowners and business owners in our community.”
