Officers from the Benton Police Department arrived early Thursday morning to the scene of an abandoned truck and a knocked over ATM. There was a heavy chain between the two.
If you’ve ever seen the movie Barbershop, you know it is really difficult to steal an ATM – and even more difficult to get inside one. Still, someone tried it this morning at Alcoa Community Federal Credit Union at 1125 Military Road in Benton.
Steve Brown, CEO of the Credit Union said that officers found a driver’s license in the truck, and the truck itself was stolen. MySaline hopes to bring you the video later, so stay tuned. The following is a statement and photos from Alcoa Community FCU on their social media.
It’s been an interesting morning here at your credit union. We received notification early this morning that someone attempted to steal our ATM. Although they weren’t successful in taking the ATM or stealing any money, they were successful in destroying the ATM.
Obviously this will affect our members until we are able to get a new ATM installed and we apologize for that. Until the time when a new ATM is in place, we will reimburse our members for any foreign ATM fees that they incur. Simply bring your receipt showing the fee by our office and show it to one of our Member Service Representatives and they will gladly reimburse the fee.
Again, we apologize for any inconvenience.
