The Arkansas Department of Corrections issued a statement concerning what they call an erroneous escape alert from earlier Tuesday.
SYSTEM ERROR LEADS TO ERRONEOUS ESCAPE ALERT
On Tuesday, October 12, 2021, a system error generated an automated escape alert. An inmate did not escape from the Arkansas Division of Correction’s Benton Unit.

Cindy Murphy Public Information Office with Arkansas Department of Corrections confirmed that the escapee notification was a “glitch.”

An anonymous employee at the Arkansas Health Center work release program states there is no escapee and it is likely a mistake in the automated system that disseminates the notices.

The Arkansas Department of Correction is notifying the public that there has been an escapee at “The Benton Unit.” That is understood as the Arkansas Health Center near Haskell.
