I had several MySaline readers contact me over the weekend, with conflicting reports about a local restaurant.

At least two people stated very matter-of-factly on social media that Abe’s Ole Feed House on Highway 5 North would be closing after Father’s Day and had been sold to someone who would soon open a different restaurant there. The Facebook posts happened about 20 minutes apart. The first one at 1:01 p.m. and the second one at 1:21 p.m. which has over 800 shares at this time. They are both public posts, so the link will take you to the details.
The only problem with this story is that the folks at Abe’s say it isn’t true. I contacted Abe’s to ask if they would be closing and another restaurant would be opening there.
Michael Mann of Abe’s stated, “We cannot confirm this. Ole Abe still owns the place and will keep frying up the freshest catfish available.”
I let them know about the conflicting stories on social media and asked again if they definitely haven’t sold and aren’t selling.
The answer this time was: “We would entertain any offers but no. We have not sold.”
I did contact the other restaurant owner who was rumored to have been a buyer, but I’ve not received a reply at this writing. I’ll update the story with any new information. Meanwhile, bon appetit, since they are apparently still open.
