Book: The Neighbor War

Hey bookworms! I’ve got a cute and slightly ridiculous romcom for you today! The sequel to “The Roommate Situation!” This time is Aiden and his quirky nemesis next door, Courtney. And can I just say, Courtney’s inner monologue is A+ material. So many times I wanted to laugh out loud throughly this story. Personally, I think it might have even been a little bit more on the comedy content than the romance. Which was fine by me.
So, through a totally ridiculous series of unfortunate events, Courtney and Aiden, sworn enemies for life, end up posing as a couple at a couples retreat and it one hundred percent made me think of if the movies Couples Retreat and Blended had a book baby. There were couples activities including yoga, massage, and the dreaded couples counseling. And then vacation was over and they had to navigate their very different feelings for each other.
It was refreshing. It wasn’t just a magical destination vacation that made them fall in love and live happily ever after. There was some real character development going on. It was nice! There were also a lot of ridiculous things that honestly would have landed better for me on the screen than they did on the page. So, Netflix or Hallmark, let’s make this adaptation happen, ok?
It’s super clean. Like, I wouldn’t be embarrassed if my mom read this one. And it also deals with chronic illness/body image in a healthy way. Overall, I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it!
