The University of Central Arkansas Division of Outreach & Community Engagement in partnership with Saline County Cares invites Saline County leaders, citizens, and the media to attend a Poverty Simulation at Benton First United Methodist Church from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 7th.
The Poverty Simulation is an experiential setting that allows participants to view poverty from different angles. The simulation is intended to move participants to think about the harsh realities of poverty and to talk about how their communities can address the problem. This exercise is a unique, interactive experience that helps people begin to understand what life is like with a shortage of money and an abundance of stress. Through this simulation, participants will better understand the realities of poverty that affect individuals and families throughout Saline County.
During the debriefing after the simulation, participants will engage in a discussion on how businesses, social service organizations, and non-profits in Saline County can better work together to support low-resourced individuals and families.
