Book: Tell Me
Author: Anne Frasier
My Rating: 4 Creepy Stars
Hello fellow bookworms! Remember last year when I read Find Me and I gushed about how it appealed to my true crime moving heart, even though it’s fiction? Well, this is the sequel and it did not let me down. I loved it!
Reni and Detective Ellis are back with all of their twisted history. I loved that they hadn’t just perfectly moved on from the last book. Reni especially, is still working through her trauma, and I can appreciate that the author wrote a character who struggles to cope with her complicated past. And Daniel Ellis is my favorite. Is he flawed? Yes. But is he also perfect? Yes. Don’t ask me why, I can’t explain. Something about the cop with a tragic backstory, I just can’t resist. There are also a host of new characters in this story. And as per usual with Anne Frasier, they’re all incredibly well written. Once again, their are multiple points of view, and it’s not always a reliable narrator. So, the plot is unpredictable, which I love in a thriller like this.
The only thing I liked less about this second book in the series is the slow start. It took me an uncharacteristically long time to get through the first six or seven chapters. But once I hit the 25% mark I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. I read this as an ebook and also listened to the audiobook while driving/working just so I could finish it quicker. And I’ll give the audiobook a thumbs up as well. It should be a compliment that I couldn’t bear to stop reading even just for my short drive to work.
So, as I have for every Anne Frasier book I’ve reviewed so far, I’m highly recommending this one. It’s an excellent thriller with just the right ratio of creepiness and mystery. If you love shows like Criminal Minds, or even if you just have a penchant for true crime, you will probably enjoy this sequel!
