Two officers saved a Saline County man from an overdose Thursday morning in the Sardis community.
On March 11th about 4:30 a.m., Deputies Ablondi and Greeno flipped on their lights and siren and headed to a call about an overdose on North Sardis Road. According to a statement from the Saline County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), on arrival, they found an unconscious white male, reportedly suffering from a combination of heroin, fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The SCSO says the deputies administered two doses of intranasal Narcan and then the subject became responsive and was transported to a hospital to be treated. It is believed the subject would have died without the fast response and Narcan training of the deputies, according to the SCSO.
Narcan is a drug which reverses the effects of opiate-based drugs such as heroin, fentanyl and prescriptions like oxycodone, hydrocodone, codeine, morphine and others.
