Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Saline County woman Wednesday morning after a daycare center called 911.
According to a statement from the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, Amanda Easterly, age 32 of Benton, was found in a car outside the daycare in the 4300 block of Salt Creek Rd. The caller from the business said that she was passed out and needed someone to come check on her.
When deputies made contact with Easterly, she reported told them she stopped because she became sleepy while driving home. The deputies stated that she was in a confused state and suspected she was under the influence of drugs.
After asking Easterly to step out of the vehicle, they reported seeing a syringe in plain view in the center console and then observed a suspected methamphetamine pipe between the driver’s seat and console. The police report says that she then told deputies she used the syringe to inject meth.
Easterly faces charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In a statement, the SCSO commended the daycare staff for reporting the person and watching out for the safety of children.
