Benton District Court will resume in-court proceedings.
Judge Newton will begin holding court the week beginning May 18th. The building will be open to the public with necessary health and safety restrictions as directed by the Arkansas Department of Health.

If you have a case coming up with the Benton District Court of Saline County it may have been rescheduled, and if so, you still must take action to sign an acknowledgement.
District Judge Josh Newton announced that cases scheduled for April 7, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., will be rescheduled to July 7, 2020 at 1 p.m., due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
In the meantime, you must choose one of the following options by April 7, 2020. Failure to do one of these actions will result in a Failure to Appear warrant.
- appear at the court to sign an acknowledgement. There will be a list posted on the front doors of the court for you to sign.
- mail or email the court an acknowledgement that you are aware your court date has been changed from April 7, 2020 to July 7, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.

Judge Newton stated, “The Arkansas Supreme Court has ordered the suspension of in-person court proceedings, with limited exceptions, through at least April 17th.”
He said they are still conducting felony bond hearings three times per week, using video conferencing, but most other District Court dockets are having to be rescheduled.
