Lovingly remembered as Bill or Papa, he ended his earthly journey in Hot Springs Village nearest to the residence of his eldest daughter, Kim and her family. He was a kind, generous man with a golden heart who loved deeply. Each family gathering was marked with some sort of special activity like scavenger hunts, flying kites and water sports with plenty of floatation devices and drink holders. He was the best set of hands in the kitchen, his specialties were meat pasties, crab salad and his special blue cheese salad dressing. He was the greatest storyteller, gave the best toasts and told the funniest jokes. He made certain to teach the youngest of the family proper behavior at the dinner table including ice fights and cloth napkins fashioned into hats for their heads. Vernon, IA; the suburbs of Cincinnati (twice); the suburbs of Philadelphia (twice); Fremont, CA; Charlotte, NC; Grosse Pointe, MI; Lake Forest, IL; and finally, Dallas, when Dana and Deborah were in college. Our only beloved son, WILLIAM CHRISTOPHER “CHRIS” CHILDERS, 37 years, 7 months, and 6 days, of Benton, Arkansas was called from his earthly home on Sunday, June 16, 2019 while doing what he loved the most; being outdoors with the love of his life and three of his best childhood friends. Chris was born to Robert M. and Linda D. Childers on Tuesday, November 10, 1981 in Newport, Arkansas. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of Life Line Baptist Church. When he wasn’t working, you would find him in the woods or at the deer lease where he was scouting for that elusive big buck that he would see for a second or two before he would disappear deeper into the woods. You would also find him helping his good friends with their sick animals. His love for animals was only exceeded by his love for his best friend and love, Ashley, his mother, and his Nanny. Friends and family said many times if he had the means, he would take in every stray he saw. He couldn’t stand to see animals suffer. His love for animals actually lead him to his first job at Cloverdale Animal Hospital at the age of 16. While working there for many years, he began learning how to train special K9 breeds through his associations with specialist and law enforcement personnel. After losing his best fur buddy, Sezar, to a fire he left behind his work with animals, but not his love and care of them; and joined Central Arkansas Water. He worked there as a customer service representative after working in many other positions throughout his time there. Chris was the most selfless individual according to his many friends. He would drop whatever he was doing when they called and helped them with whatever was needed; whether it was a car broke down, sick animals, needing a few extra dollars, or just to talk. Chris was always there. His laughter, smile, and practical jokes will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. There is a tremendous void in his family that can never be refilled, but his memories will be cherished forever. One final act of his selflessness was to be an organ and tissue donor so others may continue to live or be improved through his death. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and grandmother, James and Dorothy Bridges; paternal grandfathers, Mack Childers and Homer Pirtle; his favorite uncle, Jerry Howard. JOHN “DAVID” TALLEY, 58 of Benton, Arkansas closed his eyes to his earthly home and opened his eyes to his heavenly home June 15, 2019. He was born May 11, 1961 in Springhill, Louisiana to John Thomas and the late Donna (Smith) Talley. David gave his life to lead people to the Lord and closer to the cross. He closed a successful business ten years ago to follow the calling the Lord placed on his heart. He founded The Crusader’s Ministries in 1988. He and his family travelled 300 days per year evangelizing and singing. David was a faithful follower of the Lord and trusted that God would provide their needs. His family said that David would use his last dime to serve others and lead them to the Lord without a second thought. His philosophy was “What is the Price of a Soul Worth?” David never turned down an invitation to come sing and preach-it didn’t matter what the offering would be, there were souls needing to hear the gift of salvation. David was a gifted musician and could play several instruments and had a beautiful singing voice. He had a recording studio and was an accomplished songwriter. Many of his songs landed on the Top 10 Gospel Charts and were featured on the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries and many Crusader’s albums. One of his top 10 songs, “He’s Right There”, was written by David, Jon, and Ashley. David wore many hats in the ministry: preacher, evangelist, singer, prophet, prayer warrior, minister, teacher, plus so many more. He was a father figure and mentor to so many. David became pastor of Benton Four Square Church in October 2018, ironically where he preached his first message ten years prior entitled, “Why Would You Ever Want to Look Back?”. His love for the Bible led him to memorize and live by Psalm 1, “Blessed is the man…” Although he traveled the world, his ultimate dream was lived out as he visited Israel and had the opportunity to baptize seventeen people in the River of Jordan just a month ago. David taught others how to live for Christ and die with spiritual integrity. He ministered and prayed for people coming to visit him until the day he passed away. David was a Presidential Director of First Fitness Nutrition where he won seven dream vacations along with a Mercedes. David was a top award earner for forty months straight. David loved his family with all his heart. He was affectionately known as “Pops” to his grandchildren. His family enjoyed evangelizing together and sharing the gospel. David loved being outdoors camping and boating. Instead of fishing for fish, he laid it all down to be a fisher of men. Family refer to David as “Mr. Fix-It”. He was an amazing bus mechanic and could often diagnose problems a vehicle was having by simply listening to it on the phone or seeing a picture of the engine. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Penney (Wise) Talley of Benton, Arkansas; two children: Amber Byrd and husband Scott of Benton, Arkansas and Jonathan Talley and wife Ashley of Ashdown, Arkansas; honorary son, Steven Hayes of Benton, Arkansas; grandchildren: Anniston Byrd, Karsyn Byrd, Tatum Talley, Rylan Talley, and expected in December: Kinsley Talley; father, John Thomas Talley and wife Kay of Emerson, Arkansas; brother, Thomas Curtis Talley and wife Karen of Bella Vista, Arkansas; spiritual mentor, Bro.
