Help Dolly Parton get picture books into the hands of children this Christmas. Read more below for how to do it.
The Saline County Library has partnered with the local chapter of Imagination Library, a charity foundation founded by country music star Dolly Parton, to collect donations for the program during this holiday season. All donations go directly to the Saline County Chapter of the Imagination Library to promote early literacy by purchasing picture books to be delivered to children ages 0-5 who are enrolled in the program. Imagination Library of Saline County has 3,347 children currently enrolled with almost 200 on the waiting list. Funding for this program is provided by grants and donations from individuals.
Patrons visiting each library branch can look for the Imagination Library Giving Tree area decorated with ornaments and select one with the appropriate donation amount they would like to donate. They can then bring the ornament and their donation to the front desk to be collected and delivered to the charity. Donations are accepted in cash, check, or via the QR code on the back of the ornament through GiveButter.
In addition, the Saline County Library continues its Warm Wishes campaign throughout the coldest months of Arkansas. Patrons are encouraged to donate any winter clothing in good condition to those in need at the library. Each library branch has a Warm Wishes area with winter apparel such as hats, scarves, gloves, and jackets. Anyone in need is welcome to take any item from the Warm Wishes area and keep warm this winter.
