The Panther defense enforced their will all night, holding the Blue Devils to just 158 total yards on 56 plays. The Blue Devils converted a mere 3/18 3rd and 4th down conversions combined. Sophomore Weston Monson capped off the impressive 1st half with a pick-six for 16 yards ending the half up 42-0. Seniors Walter Hicks and Dominic Roy both recorded sacks on their way to railing West Memphis QB Andrew Jenkins.
The offense also put on a clinic, scoring an impressive 42 points in the first half. Junior QB Drew Davis hurled for 273 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 13 completions. Junior WR Carson Collat had a stand-out performance as he connected with Davis for 75 yards and 2 touchdowns. Junior WR Will Carter hauled in a touchdown on a trick play from Senior WR Maddox Davis. Maddox also recorded 7 catches for 114 yards and a touchdown alongside his sneaky quarterback play.
The elite passing offense was backed by a strong ground game. Benton running backs Sr. Quenton Godley and So. TJ Williams combined for 115 yards including a touchdown run from Williams. Junior Backup QB Chase Cobb also rushed for a touchdown in the second half.
Senior Kicker Garrett Honeycutt had another perfect outing going 6/6 on extra points.
Benton will face a feisty Marion team on the road this week. If they continue their win streak against the Patriots, the Panthers will be crowned 6A East Conference Champions for the 4th year in a row.
The Panthers know it will be a tough test but they are ready and excited for the biggest game of the year this coming Friday.
