Blake Childress
Blake Childress was Born Sept. 16, 1991, to parents Randy and Colleen Childress. He attended Pine Haven Elementary and continued through his senior year, graduating from Bauxite High School in 2011. Blake started playing Mini Miner Football in the 3rd grade because the 4th grade team was short on numbers. His first touch of the football came against Cutter Morning Star School with a 37-yard touchdown run that started the fire.

He played 4 years in Mini Miner football through the 6th grade. In his seventh grade year as a driller football player, his team went undefeated. As a Freshman in 2007 his Jr High team was once again undefeated, and Blake then moved up to the Senior High team for the last conference game of the season against Glen Rose to play special teams and play as quarterback in the 4th Quarter.
Blake also played in all remaining playoff games that season. He would go on to letter all 3 years in Senior High. In 2008 Blake was named Saline County Sophomore of the year with 19 interceptions on defense and earned All-Conference Honorable mention. As a junior in 2009 Blake was selected as an All-Conference player. In his Senior season of 2010 Blake lead the team in rushing with 1,987 yards and scored 23 touchdowns earning All-Conference and All-State honors.
The Miners made it to the Semifinals of the 3-A State playoffs that season. Blake was named Player of the Game in the Glen Rose game televised on channel 42 by Dave Woodman & Clint Stoerner. He also had the play of the game with a game winning 73-yard touchdown. He was invited to play in the Arkansas All-Star football game that season as well.
Childress also had a very impressive high school baseball career at Bauxite. He started in every game and lettered as a Freshman in 2007. That season he hit his first high School home run and earned an All-Conference honorable mention.
In his 2008 Sophomore year Blake again earned his letter and hit 2 home runs on the season. He helped the Miners win the District Championship earning a bid to Regionals and he was awarded All-Conference honors for his efforts that year. He lettered again in 2009 as a Junior.
The team won the Regional tournament and made it to the State semifinals. Blake was again named as an All-Conference player. In his Senior season of 2010 Childress earned his 4th letter for Baseball.
Blake hit 7 home runs for the season and helped the team become District Champions, Regional Champions, and win the 3-A State Championship in Razorback Stadium. He was once again awarded All-Conference and All-State honors.
