Saline County Library Kicks Off “Library Card Sign Up Month” Initiative in Sep With Local Discounts, Free Events, and More
Saline County Library
Library Card Sign Up Month, celebrated nationally, begins at the Saline County Library starting Sep 1. Throughout the month, all members of the community who live, work, go to school, or own property in Saline County are encouraged to sign up for a free library card, renew their existing expired library cards, or simply use their current active library card.
Taking this initiative one step further, the Saline County Library is partnering with an array of local businesses to encourage library card registration and local commerce. Any customer who shows their library card at participating businesses is eligible for exclusive discounts.
Patrons who support multiple local Saline County businesses can check off squares on their BINGO card. Participants can pick up a BINGO card at any Saline County Library location or online at www.SalineCountyLibrary.org/Power. To play BINGO and receive prizes, library card holders stop by the stores on the BINGO card and make use of the discount, then receive a stamp on their BINGO card. There will be small prizes for 1,2 or 3 BINGOS.
The Saline County Library is partnering with 52 businesses for Library Card Sign-Up Month. Some of the many businesses participating in Library Card Sign Up Month include restaurants like Whole Hog, Chicken Salad Chick, Texas Roadhouse, and Pasta J’s, shopping venues including Down South Hat Co., Baker’s Fine Jewelry, Relics Tattoo, Haskell Hardware and Sport Shop, and entertainment locations including Dave & Busters, Empire Kids, and Archangel Games. The Young Players (YP) announce the upcoming 2024-25 season
Royal Players
The Young Players (YP) announce the upcoming 2024-25 season, kicking off in Sep! With two Broadway Junior shows and three full-length productions, there is something for everyone!
Our Young Players season kicks off with Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical in Sep 2024. Inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, the Tony Award-winning Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical is the captivating masterpiece from the Royal Shakespeare Company that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination, and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life
As the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson has newly discovered powers he can’t control, a destiny he doesn’t want, and a mythology textbook’s worth of monsters on his trail. The Lightning Thief is our Young Players Second Stage (YP2S) production kicking off the new year in Jan 2025! Adapted from the best-selling book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and featuring a thrilling original rock score, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is an action-packed mythical adventure “worthy of the gods” (Time Out New York).
We return to our younger actors with Seussical Jr., Feb 13-23, 2025. Now one of the most performed shows in America, Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once on This Island, Ragtime), have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.
Then, to round out the YP season, get ready for the Newsies double feature! The younger YP actors will present Newsies Jr. in July and then the older actors will stage the full-length production of Newsies. Set in turn-of-the-century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged “newsies.” When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what’s right!
Join us this season and support the Young Players! Be on the lookout on Facebook and Instagram for more information regarding auditions and ticket sales. Click Here for the flyer.
The Royal Players announce the upcoming 2024-25 season
Royal Players
The Royal Players announce our upcoming 2024-25 season! Make plans to join us at the historic Royal Theatre for a great season, kicking off with our fifth annual Royal Haunted House in Oct. The Royal Haunted House, sponsored by Arvest Bank, with an all-new theme and great haunts, is a guaranteed scare!
We will kick off the holiday season in Dec with Meet Me in St. Louis. Based on the heartwarming MGM film, Meet Me In St. Louis is a rare treasure in musical theatre. The musical includes seven of the best-loved songs from the film, plus ten additional songs written for the stage, including the memorable musical number “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
The Brothers Grimm takes the Royal stage in Mar 2025 with the epic fairy tale Into the Woods. James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece and a rare modern classic about wishes, family, and the choices we make.
In Apr, we will experience a severe attack of farce with Rumors by Neil Simon. When four New York power couples gather to celebrate a tenth wedding anniversary, they encounter confusion and miscommunications as the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.
One of the most beloved musicals of all time, and the final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein, will hit the Royal stage in June, The Sound of Music. In 1938 Austria, an exuberant young governess brings music and joy back to a broken family, only to face danger and intrigue as the Nazis gain power. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including “My Favorite Things” and “Do-Re-Mi,” The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide, winning five Tony Awards and five Oscars.
Murder and chaos will be pitted against love and virtue as we close out our 2024-25 season in Sep with Jekyll & Hyde. The epic struggle between good and evil comes to life on stage in this musical phenomenon based on the classic story by Robert Louis Stevenson and featuring a thrilling score of pop rock hits from multi-Grammy- and Tony-nominated Frank Wildhorn and double-Oscar- and Grammy-winning Leslie Bricusse. Jekyll & Hyde has mesmerized audiences the world over!
Stay tuned to Facebook and Instagram for more information, tickets, and audition opportunities. Thank you for continuing to support the Royal Theatre! Click Here for the flyer.

Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however. The school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves to punish those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts and could be the school pupils’ saving grace!
Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs, MATILDA will thrill and delight audiences with the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.
Matilda was first commissioned and produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and premiered at The Courtyard Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon, England on 9 November 2010. It transferred to the Cambridge Theatre in the West End of London on 25 Oct 2011 and received its US premiere at the Shubert Theatre, Broadway, USA on 4 Mar 2013.

“Hiring for Keeps” by Mike Davidson – As we all know, no matter how well-crafted any hiring process is, there will always be room for improvement. Hire the wrong person, and you just hired your weakest link. The interviewing process is one of the most critical components. Mike Davidson, a former business owner and current leadership consultant from Bryant, Arkansas, has developed A PROCESS that will help you identify the superstars. Mike spent a year and a half completing several courses on the art of interviewing, and he has refined the process over several years to such a point that he has been asked to share his interviewing techniques with national organizations. Mike will be teaching us how to accurately evaluate every superstar’s three key attributes: attitude, self-initiative, and ability to learn. For more information 501-993-6121 or [email protected].
