The festival, in its 40th year, begins at 5pm in the River Market area of downtown Little Rock. The gates open to the First Security Amphitheater for the other planned entertainment including the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra concert.
“It is important to us to celebrate this holiday by providing this free event for the public,” said Amanda Copley, marketing and events director at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. “ASO will be performing a military salute to all branches during the concert as we take time every year to recognize our military members and their families. We appreciate what they do for our country and us.”
There will be giveaways for those first 100 military members to check in including free reserved seating. All military are asked to check in with their military ID at the information booth when they arrive at the event. The booth is located in the River Market Pavilion.
Lost Forty will be in the gated area with tent setups selling water, Rockhound IPA, 2nd Rodeo Light Beer which features Arkansas rice, Love Honey Bock and their new Punchy Arkansas Hard Seltzer – Snow Cone Collection.
There will be children’s activities and games. Food trucks with traditional (and not so traditional) fair food will also be on sale. Performing on stage will be Nicky Parrish featuring the group Kemistri, followed by Rodney Block who will take the stage prior to the Symphony’s performance. Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:20-9:30 p.m. and are shot off the Main Street Bridge. A full schedule of all the events can be found online.
Access to the Main Street Bridge will close at 1 p.m. and reopen at 11 p.m.
The event is free to the public. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the festivities. Amphitheater seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. The public can reserve amphitheater seating for only $15 prior to the event through the Pops on the River website. No fireworks, food, drinks, coolers or pets will be allowed in the park.
