When it’s below freezing weather, it can be devastating to everything you love. But you can handle it like an adult and avoid all the problems. So here it comes…
There are 4 precautions you should take to protect everything – your People, Pets, Pipes and Plants.
PEOPLE
Contact your neighbors, friends and family to let them know to use the precautions below. Or go to their home and help them get it figured out.
Also make sure their heating system is sufficient and windows and doors are sealed to keep the cold out.
And take care of yourself. If you have to go out, dress in layers. Of course you don’t want to be too cold, but you also don’t want to burn up once you get inside to where you’re going.
PETS
Bring all your animals inside. They will freeze in the yard. Even the garage might be too cold in temps below 32. Make space for them in the warmth and away from any precipitation.
PIPES
Outdoors, disconnect water hoses and cover your faucets with a protective foam cup or towel or rags. You can get the cups at the hardware stores.
Let your indoor faucets drip just a little from the hot and cold pipes.
PLANTS
Cover plants or move them inside.
