3 Thrillers to Read (and the shows to watch afterward)
Killing Floor by Lee Child
I finally got around to watching REACHER on Prime Video, and it made me remember how much I love these books! Full disclosure, I downloaded a Jack Reacher book the same night I finished the show. The Reacher from the novels is very similar to his portrayal in the Amazon series. No nonsense, quiet type, huge, calm in the face of danger. If you’re looking for an action packed book with a well thought out mystery, I recommend any of the Jack Reacher books. Killing Floor is the first in the series, and the one that the show is based on.
Safe by Harlan Coben
I’m relatively new to Harlan Coben’s books, but I haven’t found one I didn’t like yet. They are so well written, and the characters are unique and vibrant. There’s always a mystery, but it’s never predictable. Safe was one that I devoured quickly because I couldn’t put it down. It’s the epitome of a “page turner.” There are several shows on Netflix that are based on his books, however this is the only one I’ve read. So it’s on this list, but I imagine the rest are just as good.
Clear and Present Danger by Tom Clancy
Ok, typically Clancy books are too heavy on technical details for me, so I have trouble finishing them. However, I was really motivated to finish this one after watching the show on Prime Video. Annnnnnd I also did it as an audiobook. (Thank God for audiobooks.) Even though this streaming series isn’t based on storylines from the book series, for some reason when attempting to read it for the second time, elements that confused me originally started to make sense after watching the show. So in this case, I think I’m actually recommending watching before reading (gasp!) It worked for me, don’t judge.
