3 Books To Read During Snowmageddon 2022
I’ve got a diverse book list for y’all today! I think these are great escapes and could also be entertaining family read alongs. (You should ultimately be the judge of that for your own family, though.) So, whether you’re hiding in your bathroom trying to escape snowmageddon by yourself, or you’re just trying to calm the agents of chaos in your house for a few chapters a day, hopefully this list is helpful!
Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie
Chances are, you can read this one in one snow day. It’s one of Agatha Christie’s most famous mysteries starring the fan favorite – Detective Poirot. Even if you’ve read this one before, you could refresh your memory before the movie comes out soon. And it might even be fun to read it aloud or listen to the audiobook with your family! I’d recommend it for older kids. It is a murder mystery, so obviously making it a family read along should be at your own discretion.
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
This is one of my favorite books about books! It’s also one of those books that I could re-read anytime. It’s a magical world with adventure, mystery, heroes and villains. This one also has a movie version, which I love! If you’re planning to read this as a family, it is a children’s book, but there are some scary situations. It has a happy ending, but just be aware! The audiobook for this one is pretty good!
Illuminae By Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
This is a YA sci-fi saga, but don’t be fooled into thinking it’s not for you. I really enjoyed reading it for the first time when I was 31 years old. I recommend this one as a physical book because of the way it’s presented as a collection of files. It’s really cool to hold in your hands. However, the audiobook is also stellar because it’s narrated by a full cast. It’s like listening to a play. Very entertaining! This one is part of a trilogy and you will want to binge the whole series, trust me. If you’re a fan of irreverent space misfits like Firefly, odds are good you’ll like this one.
