If you were one of the many Saline County residents that voted in the past couple of weeks, you helped put the county on top of all the others in Arkansas percentage-wise.
The County put out a statement on Wednesday:
“Saline County is proud to announce it achieved the highest voter turnout percentage in the state of Arkansas for the 2024 General Election, with an impressive 71.66% of registered voters casting ballots. A total of 57,927 votes were cast out of 80,850 registered voters, with 46,668 voting early, 10,285 on Election Day, and 974 absentee ballots submitted.”
Saline County Clerk Doug Curtis extended his gratitude to the voters and all those who supported the election process. “A special thank you to our Saline County Quorum Court members and County Judge for their unwavering support of the County Clerk’s Office and our poll workers in every election,” said Curtis.
“We are thrilled to lead the state in voter turnout percentage, and we owe it all to our Saline County voters, poll workers, election commissioners, and my office staff—including Election Coordinator Allison Cain—and Saline County Communications Director Trevor Villines.”
Curtis stated that he wants to do more – in particular, he said there were fewer younger voters. According to election records, around 4,100 voters between ages 18-24 actually voted, while about 2.5 times that many voters age 65-74 voted. That number of older voters was about 10,280.
Saline County Judge Matt Brumley praised the county’s efforts to drive voter engagement and awareness. “To have the highest percentage of voter turnout in the state speaks volumes about the engagement of our citizens. Saline County has been intentional in making sure our voters know where to vote, when to vote, and how our secure election process works, with continuous updates throughout. The entire Saline County team performed exceptionally, led by County Clerk Doug Curtis, his dedicated staff, our amazing poll workers, election commissioners, and Communications Director Trevor Villines. We are committed to promoting the importance of voting and look forward to breaking turnout records election after election.”
Saline County’s commitment to accessible, transparent, and efficient voting processes demonstrates its leadership in civic engagement. “Saline County doesn’t just follow the standard—we set it,” added Curtis.
